The case involving the former Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano, and the entrepreneur Maria Rosaria Boccia continues to be a topic of discussion, finding ample space in the latest episode of Report on Rai 3. During the broadcast, a phone call was broadcast between Sangiuliano and his wife, Federica Corsini, in which the politician admits his betrayal.
The phone call revealed by Report
The telephone conversation, anticipated on the show's social channels (and subsequently removed, as reported by Free), was broadcast during the episode of December 8, 2024. In the dialogue, Corsini asks for explanations on her husband's admission, referring to infidelity: “I would like to know the reason why you told me that”. Sangiuliano replies: “I told you because I wasn't happy with myself, because I made a mistake”.
The discussion continues in heated tones. The wife insists: “Why were you afraid someone would tell me? I wanted to understand what drove you. Otherwise you would have told me sooner. Did it happen because she sent you packing?”. Sangiuliano finally admits: “He sent me to hell, yes”.

Comment by Maria Rosaria Boccia
Mary Rosaria Boccia, directly involved in the case, did not hesitate to respond harshly during the same episode, criticizing Rai for its treatment of the affair. In a post on Instagram, she declared: "The public service has been used to tell gossip and nonsense about a citizen who only asked for clarity. Rai should take action against employees who abuse the most important information medium in Italy".
Boccia also accused Report to have started one “mud machine” against him, complaining about the lack of clarity on relevant issues such as his alleged failure to be appointed to a public office. Finally, he added that he was still waiting for an official apology.

The topic is very controversial and the published phone call seems a bit excessive to me. I don't know if it's right that a person's private life is exposed in such a public way, especially for a politician who has responsibilities.
