Second Hand - Di Seconda Mano, the historic contemporary dance festival, will take place from December 12th to 15th at the Sala Assoli of Casa del Contemporaneo in Naples. Conceived and directed by Gabriella Stazio of Movimento Danza, the event is part of the "New Dance Box - scouting, promotion and more 2022/2024" project, supported by institutions such as the Ministry of Culture and the Campania Region.

The event is dedicated to authorial choreography and youth creativity.

The Second Hand Theme

The title of the event recalls Merce Cunningham's 1970 work, which reimagined fragments of previous choreographies. In this edition, Second Hand presents a series of short choreographic pieces, created by artists mostly under 35. The event aims to explore new possibilities and create unexpected connections between different generations and languages.

Forty Years of Dance in Naples

Since its founding with Enterprise in 1984, Movimento Danza has brought innovation to Naples for four decades. Since its debut in 2005, Second Hand has hosted over 700 artists in 26 editions, disseminating original ideas in the field of live performance and fostering intercultural dialogue between local and international artists. It is also an important platform for young talent, thanks to its creative residencies and the "Choreografi in Movimento" and "Residanza - La Casa della Nuova Coreografia" competitions.

2024 Edition Program

The 2024 edition will feature numerous national artists. Among the events, on Thursday, December 12th, Antonello Apicella will present "Origenìa," while Irma Cardano will offer "No Question," a modern reinterpretation of Vivaldi's Four Seasons. On Friday, December 13th, it will be the turn of "Hope" by Claudio Prati and Ariella Vidach, along with "I Knew Those People" by Sara Lupoli. On Saturday, December 14th, the stage will host "Lost Solos" by Patrizia Cavola and Ivan Truol, and "Pari intervallo" by Claudio Malangone. The event will culminate on Sunday, December 15th with "Sista" by Simona Bertozzi and "Keywords n.5" by Gabriella Stazio. Throughout the four-day program, Second Hand will continue to be a hub of innovation and experimentation in the contemporary dance scene.
