Following the directives of the Prefect of Naples, Dr. Michele di Bari, the Guardia di Finanza has intensified controls on the territory to combat the thriving black market of illegal fireworks. In a series of operations, the financial police have dismantled a criminal organization dedicated to the production and sale of clandestine fireworks, seizing over 2 tons of highly dangerous explosive material.
The blitz began with the identification of some suspicious shipments at a logistics platform in Mariglianella. Hidden in anonymous packages, the financial police found about 400 kg of homemade explosive devices, including paper bombs and pyrotechnic batteries, whose destructive potential was confirmed by the Carabinieri of the Artificieri Nucleus.
Following this lead, the military raided a property in Sant'Anastasia, used as a warehouse and laboratory for the production of illegal firecrackers. Here, another 400 kg of explosives were seized and a young man was arrested in flagrante delicto.
The investigation did not stop there. In the countryside of Scisciano, the financial police discovered an agricultural shed used as a clandestine storage of over 1.200 kg of fireworks. The young man was arrested in flagrante delicto and the material found, together with the vehicle and phones used to contact potential customers were seized.
The operation dealt a severe blow to the black market of illegal barrels, highlighting the extreme danger of these activities. The huge quantity of explosives seized could have caused serious damage to people and things, underlining the importance of the action of the police.
