Capua. The woman who threw herself from the Roman Bridge into the Volturno River this morning has been rescued and brought to safety. Shortly before 10:00, the decisive intervention was carried out by a local police officer, who was nearby.
After spotting the woman in distress, the officer immediately alerted backup and set out in a canoe into the river to provide assistance. The woman is currently being transported to the hospital for further assessments of her health.
The timely action of the agent made it possible to avoid the worst and ensure a rapid recovery from the river. The passers-by who witnessed the extreme gesture immediately alerted the operations room which sent a team from the Headquarters, the SFA unit (Fluvial Rescuers) with a dinghy and the SAF unit (Alpine river speleo) and a ladder truck.
Immediately upon arrival, the Fire Department found the young woman in the water, assisted by a female Firefighter from the local station who had reached her with a canoe and was holding her head above water. The Fire Department recovered the two women, both of whom were taken to the hospital for checks.
