Artificial Intelligence (AI) is gaining ground, but its use among Italian companies remains limited. According to an analysis by Unioncamere and Dintec, based on data from the Digital Business Points Observatory of the Chambers of Commerce, in 2024 only 11,4% of companies have integrated AI into their technologies. However, companies are investing in other areas, such as Cloud, digital payment systems and Cybersecurity.

Growing interest in AI
Despite limited diffusion, there is a growing attention towards Artificial Intelligence, which emerges as one of the strategic technologies to be developed in the period 2025-2027. About 18,9% of companies plan to include it in their investment programs.
Regional disparity
AI adoption is not homogeneous in Italy, with a strong prevalence of companies located in the Center-North. Among those that already use AI, almost 68% are located in Lombardy, Piedmont, Lazio, Emilia Romagna and Veneto. The provinces of Milan, Rome, Turin, Verona and Reggio Emilia are among the most active in this area.
Service Sector
Most of the companies that have adopted AI operate in the Services sector, highlighting how this technology is considered crucial for the optimization and modernization of business processes.
