An important step forward towards the modernization of public transport in the province of Naples. EAV, the Autonomous Authority of Volturno, has in fact started the procedure for the construction of the tram line that will connect Gragnano to Castellammare di Stabia.
Article Key Points
The project, financed with European funds, involves the transformation of the old railway line into a modern tramway, equipped with 9 stops that will serve the main points of interest in the two municipalities. The line, about 5 kilometers long, will be flanked by a cycle path, underlining the attention to sustainable mobility.
A strategic work for the development of the territory
The new tramway will not only be a means of transport, but a real driving force for development for the entire area. The mayor of Castellammare di Stabia has stressed the importance of extending the line to Piazza Matteotti, where the historic train station is located, to attract a greater number of passengers.
In Gragnano, instead, the construction of a large urban park is planned, which will redevelop an area that has so far been undervalued and will offer citizens a new green space.
Tight deadlines for an ambitious project
To be eligible for European funding, work must begin by the end of 2025 and be completed by 2027. These are very tight deadlines, but EAV is determined to meet the schedule.
The mayors' opinion and the next steps
Both the mayor of Gragnano and the mayor of Castellammare di Stabia have expressed a favorable opinion on the project, underlining the benefits it will bring to the territory. The final green light will come from Ansfisa, the National Agency for the Safety of Railways and Road and Highway Infrastructure.

This project seems very interesting and useful, but I hope that the deadlines will be respected. People need efficient and modern public transport. It would also be good if information work was done for citizens.
