Employment growth and contract renewals give a boost to the thirteenth month. This year, over 32 million Italian employees and pensioners will receive the long-awaited additional monthly payment, for a total of approximately 51 billion, 7,8% more than last year.
Impact on holiday spending
An injection of liquidity that will be partly absorbed by fixed expenses, pending bills and savings, but which should still have a significant impact on end-of-year consumption. 78% of those who receive it plan to use part of it for holiday expenses, from Christmas presents to vacations, for a total of over 18,7 billion euros.

It's interesting to see how employment growth and contract renewals can affect the thirteenth month. The numbers are impressive, but I wonder if all this money will actually be spent on the holidays or just saved.
