The Polmetro, a specialized police unit, began patrolling operations yesterday on Lines 1 and 6 of the Naples metro.

The initiative was presented by the prefect Michele di Bari as part of the new provisions issued by the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, to intensify security measures in metropolitan areas, with a particular focus on stations.

Security objectives

The Polmetro patrols aim to ensure greater safety for passengers and prevent crime in the city's main transport arteries. The presence of law enforcement translates into constant monitoring and rapid intervention when necessary.

Government initiative

This action is part of a broader framework of interventions aimed at protecting public order and reassuring users regarding the safety of public transport. The measures prepared by the competent authorities aim to respond to a growing demand for protection in areas frequented by citizens.

Collaboration and coordination

The Polmetro teams will work in coordination with other law enforcement agencies, creating a security network capable of effectively addressing public safety challenges in urban areas. The implementation of these measures highlights the government's commitment to addressing issues related to transportation safety and the livability of cities.
