An ambush with gunfire in the Mazzini district of Avellino yesterday evening during which Luigi Valente, 19 years old, originally from Mercogliano, was injured.
The young man is the son of Carmine Valente, a leading figure in local organised crime and affiliated with the Partenio clan: he was shot in the back. He was rescued and rushed to the emergency room of the Moscati hospital, where he was admitted with gunshot wounds, but his life is not in danger.
The dynamics of the ambush are still shrouded in mystery. The Carabinieri of the provincial command are reconstructing the event and trying to understand the context in which the episode matured.
The 19-year-old, son of Carmine currently detained for criminal association, may have been involved in a settling of scores linked to organized crime, but at the moment no leads have been excluded.
The investigation continues at a rapid pace, with investigators busy collecting testimonies and analyzing details from the scene to shed light on a case that is putting the spotlight back on the tensions linked to crime in the province of Avellino.
