The Civil Protection of the Campania Region has issued a weather alert of level Yellow for thunderstorms and a contextual warning for strong winds and rough seas.
The alerts will be valid from 6:00 am tomorrow, January 28, until 23:59 pm on the same day.

Alert details

The warning for strong south-westerly winds, with possible intense gusts and rough seas that could generate storm surges, concerns the entire regional territory.

The Yellow alert for thunderstorms, however, concerns the whole of Campania with the exception of alert zones 4 (Alta Irpinia and Sannio) and 7 (Tanagro), where the risk related to rain is considered Green level. However, even in these areas there will be strong winds similar to the rest of the region.

Storms could cause localized hydrogeological instability phenomena, such as:

  • Flooding and possible overflows;
  • Increase in water levels of watercourses;
  • Landslides and rockfalls.

Recommendations to Municipalities

La Civil protection regional invites the Mayors to:

  • Activate the Municipal Operations Centres (COC);
  • Implement the measures provided for in the emergency plans;
  • Monitor public greenery and structures sensitive to strong winds and wave motion.

Furthermore, it is important to follow the communications from the Campania Region's Unified Operations Room for any updates.

Pay maximum attention and adopt prudent behaviors throughout the duration of the alert.
