A serious traffic accident occurred this morning in the Torrette area of Ancona, resulting in at least two deaths. A high-powered BMW lost control while driving down Via Esino, colliding with other vehicles and a methane gas pump, causing a massive gas leak that was felt throughout the neighborhood.
Two pedestrians, a man in his sixties and a woman, were struck during the accident. Local authorities immediately took action. "Attention in Torrette! Due to a very serious traffic accident and a significant gas leak, several roads are closed. The roadblock is on Via Lambro and Via Esino: in that area, we recommend that you DO NOT LEAVE your homes and close your windows," the Municipality of Ancona warned in a message on social media.
The interventions on site, involving four fire engines and the police, are ongoing.
