NAPLES – A 50-year-old woman and her 27-year-old son, both residents of Scampia, were arrested by officers from the Flying Squad and the police station, with the support of a drug-sniffing canine unit.
During a check in a house in the Scampia neighborhood, the woman attempted to get rid of the drugs by throwing a backpack from the balcony, but the gesture did not escape the attention of the police, who promptly recovered it.
Inside the backpack, 17 blocks of hashish and other fragments of the same substance, for a total weight of 1,2 kilograms.
Upon entering the home, the officers identified the woman's son, also finding a small bag of marijuana, 1.865 euros in cash, a video surveillance system that monitored the outside of the building and an electronic device to detect bugs.
The checks were then extended to a garage connected to the house, where two more bags containing approximately 70 grams of marijuana, a precision scale and material for packaging the drug were discovered.
The arrested are now at the disposal of the judicial authorities, while investigations continue to investigate any further responsibilities.
