An action with a paramilitary flavour has shaken the tranquility of Contrada, a small town in the province of Avellino. Last night, a group of ten robbers targeted a local supermarket, forcing entry with two cars and proceeding with a raid organized down to the smallest detail.
The criminals, with their faces covered and wearing gloves, ransacked the premises in search of the safe. Surveillance cameras filmed the entire operation: the robbers, equipped with burglary tools and flashlights, managed to partially damage the safe but did not take it away. Their plan was interrupted by the alarm raised by the owner's daughter, who lives on the upper floor and who screamed for help.
The gang managed to escape with a loot of 1.500 euros taken from the cash registers. However, the raid left behind significant material damage, estimated at over 6.000 euros.
The mayor of Contrada, Pasquale De Sanctis, expressed solidarity with the family of the victim and launched an urgent appeal to the institutions, asking for a strengthening of security measures in an area increasingly targeted by predatory crimes.

It is truly unacceptable that in a small town like Contrada these things happen. I hope that the authorities do something to increase security and protect citizens. It is not right to live in fear.
