In the town of San Martino Valle Caudina, located in the province of Avellino, a serious episode of animal abuse was reported to the authorities.
An 80-year-old woman was reported for attacking a stray dog with a stick, hitting it repeatedly until it was in critical condition.
The alarm was raised thanks to the timely intervention of passers-by and neighbors, who contacted the police by dialing 112.
