Avellino. A devastating blow to organized crime: a gang specializing in car thefts, based in the province of Foggia, has been dismantled thanks to a joint operation by police and Carabinieri. The operation, conducted in the past few hours in the Avellino area, led to the arrest of two individuals, while a minor has been charged.
It all started with a report of the theft of a luxury car, a Stelvio, in the council house neighborhood of grottaminardaThe officers, who promptly intervened at the Savignano Irpino railway station, encountered a daring chase that led to the capture of the first criminal.
The searches then concentrated on the surrounding wooded areas and along the railway line, where the police set up blocking services to prevent the escape of the accomplices. Thanks to the collaboration of a citizen who alerted the municipal police of Savignano Irpino, the carabinieri were able to track down and arrest two other members of the gang.
The operations continued throughout the night, with a considerable deployment of forces. The two arrested, after the ritual formalities, were taken to the Bellizzi prison.
