Before removing the leash, the owners muzzled Nathan, to prevent him from eating anything along the way. While they were a few steps away from their dog, the husband and wife heard a bark. Then the gunshot.
The two immediately reached the dog, saw him first stagger and then collapse. The two also noticed a man running away with a rifle in his hand.
A surreal, chilling scene, just a few steps from the town center. The dog's owners immediately took Nathan to the vet, but could only confirm his death. Nathan's owners immediately filed a complaint. Investigations are ongoing, to try to put a face to the gunman.
