The Naples Police Headquarters continues to implement extraordinary checks to combat drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons in the city and its metropolitan area.

Yesterday evening, officers from the San Giovanni-Barra Police Station, during a targeted operation, observed a suspicious exchange between the drivers of two cars on Via Fabio Giordano. The driver of one car exchanged an object for a banknote with the occupant of the other.

Immediately afterwards, the two cars drove off in opposite directions, but the police intervened quickly and stopped one of the cars a short distance away, on Via Giuseppe Mercalli.

The driver was an 18-year-old Neapolitan, already known to law enforcement, who was found in possession of 21 packages of hashish weighing a total of 103 grams and €410 in cash, divided into banknotes of various denominations, believed to be the proceeds of the illegal activity.

The young man was arrested on charges of illegal possession of narcotics. Furthermore, during checks, it was discovered that he was driving without a license, having never obtained one, and was also fined for violating the Highway Code.

The anti-crime operations will continue in the coming days, with the aim of ensuring greater safety for citizens.

It is important to check for drugs and weapons, but sometimes it seems that things do not change much. People continue to make these exchanges on the street. Maybe there should be more police presence.
