Major inter-force operation in the Porta Nolana and Piazza Garibaldi area of Naples to combat the phenomenon of stalls and illegal vendors.
Over 20 quintals of used goods in precarious hygienic-sanitary conditions were seized and sent for disposal, while a man was reported for possession of hashish. A total of 71 people were checked, three of whom were reported, and 11 fines were issued for violations of the Highway Code.
The control device, the result of close collaboration between the police, the local police and the Municipality of Naples, was developed during the committee for public order and safety, chaired by prefect Michele di Bari. The meeting, held yesterday afternoon, established the continuous presence of law enforcement in the area, with patrols operating on a rotating basis throughout the day.
To ensure the immediate removal of the seized goods, an Asia compactor was positioned on site, while the Municipality subsequently took care of cleaning the sidewalks, often invaded by improvised stalls that obstruct pedestrian passage, especially along Corso Garibaldi.
In the evening, the prefect Michele di Bari expressed his thanks to all the operators involved and to the heads of the police force for the work done. The fight against illegal trade, which represents both a problem of security and of urban decorum, will continue with targeted interventions in the coming weeks.
