Arctic cold has now gripped Italy, and weather forecasts indicate further drops in temperatures over the next few days, also affecting Naples and Campania.
Frost in Campania: weather alert extended
According to Il Meteo estimates, after a notable drop in temperatures recorded starting from Sunday 12 January, the next few days are expected to see an increase in cold temperatures with intense freezing conditions in several regions.
The vortex of arctic air is influencing the entire national territory, significantly affecting the South, where strong gusts of wind and snowstorms are occurring, especially in the inland areas of Campania. This scenario has led the regional Civil Protection to extend the weather alert until 18:00 pm tomorrow, January 14.
Damage and inconvenience caused by bad weather
The cold snap has already caused significant damage and disruption to the population. Among the reported incidents are the rescue of eight hikers trapped in a cabin near Monte Cervati , and trees collapsed, signs collapsed, and roofs blown off in the Caserta area. In Naples, a tree fell in the Vomero neighborhood, while barriers at a construction site on the seafront were blown away by strong winds.
Forecast for next week
In the North, temperatures will remain around 5-6 degrees, while in the Center-South an even more rigid climate is expected in the coming days. The cyclonic vortex is located in the South of Italy, causing scattered rain, overcast skies and snowfall at low altitudes. Consequently, temperatures during the day will be lower than in the northern regions.
The latest updates indicate that this phase of intense cold will continue at least until mid-week, with temperatures well below the average for the period expected for Tuesday and Wednesday, January 14 and 15. Only from Thursday, January 16 is a weakening of the cold winds expected and a gradual rise in temperatures, although night frosts will continue. Further updates are expected to confirm or adapt these forecasts.
