During the night, around 3am, a serious road accident occurred between Mugnano and Calvizzano: a Mercedes, not respecting the stop sign at a crossroads on Corso Italia, hit an ambulance.
The rescue car was on an emergency call and the impact caused serious damage to the medical vehicle. The accident occurred at the height of via Baracca. Eyewitnesses reported the dynamics of the collision, highlighting that the driver of the Mercedes did not have a driving license.
The collision required the prompt intervention of the fire brigade to ensure road safety. Fortunately, all involved were unharmed. The collision caused severe damage to the front of the ambulance, while the car ended up on the sidewalk, hitting its right side.
The Green-Sinistra alliance deputy, Francesco Emilio Borrelli, declared: "We will make sure that the driver is reported and punished in an exemplary manner. Once again it is shown that other reforms were needed on the highway code. The pirates of the road are more unleashed than ever".
