ROSCIGNO – A happy ending for the dog that fell into a 100-meter-deep ravine in the Sammaro River Gorge: the animal was rescued yesterday thanks to the prompt and coordinated intervention of firefighters.
The alarm was raised by the dog's owner immediately after the accident. The red helmets of the Sala Consilina detachment intervened immediately after the report. However, the terrible weather conditions made it impossible to complete the rescue operations, forcing the rescuers to postpone the intervention.
With the improvement of the weather conditions, the firefighters returned to the site yesterday morning, supported by three Alpine Speleological Fluvial experts from Salerno. Thanks to their experience and teamwork, the dog was safely recovered. The animal, visibly cold and hungry, was entrusted back to his family, who were able to hug him again with great relief.
