A real drug dealing center was discovered in a house on Via dei Martiri del 1799. A 45-year-old local man, already known to the police for previous crimes against the person and related to drugs, was arrested yesterday afternoon by the Carabinieri on charges of possession and dealing of drugs.
The blitz started shortly after 18pm, when the military personnel of the local station, supported by civilian personnel from the Operations Section of the Company Maddaloni, carried out a targeted anti-drug operation. The investigators' suspicions were aroused by the constant coming and going of people from the man's apartment, which appeared with the door and front door wide open, almost like a commercial establishment.
When the police arrived, the visibly nervous 45-year-old was subjected to a personal search that led to the discovery of a container for flu drugs hidden in his pants pocket. Inside, the officers found 11 doses of cocaine and two plastic containers containing numerous doses of heroin. In the man's wallet, they found 200 euros in cash, divided into small bills, presumably the proceeds of the illegal activity.
The subsequent house search revealed an even larger assortment of narcotics. In the dining room, hidden in the upper part of a grandfather clock, a bag containing 12 doses of crack and a precision scale was found. In the bedroom, on a desk, the agents discovered a container of aspirin with 7 doses of hashish, another precision scale and material for packaging the doses.
In total, the Carabinieri seized cocaine, heroin, crack and hashish, as well as cash and tools for cutting and packaging the doses. After the formal procedures, the man was placed under house arrest, at the disposal of the judicial authorities. The case once again highlights the commitment of the police in the fight against drug trafficking, a scourge that continues to affect the territory.

It is truly incredible how we can reach these levels of illegality in an area that seemed peaceful. Let's hope that the police continue to do a good job in combating the drug problem.
