Despite the freezing temperatures, dozens of daredevils – including many children – braved the icy waters of the sea to symbolically greet 2025. The winter sun provided a suggestive backdrop to the morning, transforming the collective dive into a moment of celebration and sharing.
The event, born more than three decades ago as a playful challenge between friends, is now a consolidated ritual that unites Salerno citizens of all ages. In addition to the courage needed to face the cold, the New Year's Dive represents an opportunity to wish each other good luck and a new year full of energy and positivity.
Amid applause, smiles and lots of joy, the participants transformed a simple dive into a symbol of resilience and community, confirming once again how much this tradition is loved and rooted in the hearts of the people of Salerno.
