Marbella in Spain had become a haven for 3 dangerous Neapolitan fugitives and leading members of the Formicola-Marigliano clan, linked by blood ties and they were arrested there.
They are Stanislao Marigliano, his son-in-law Michele Sannino and his nephew Ciro Marigliano, who had chosen the Costa del Sol to escape Italian justice.
A well-organized escape
The three Camorristi had settled in a luxury residential complex in Marbella, posing as businessmen and trying to blend in with the other residents. They had even learned Spanish so as not to arouse suspicion.
But the Italian police never stopped looking for them. Thanks to an intense investigative activity conducted by the Naples Flying Squad, in collaboration with the Central Operations Service (SCO) and the Spanish National Police, it was possible to locate the fugitives.
After months of shadowing and wiretapping, the Italian authorities provided the Spanish agents with the information needed to carry out the arrests. In a few days, the three Camorristi were captured and taken to prison.
The three arrested were wanted for serious crimes, including attempted murder, drug dealing and mafia association. Stanislaus Marigliano he had already been definitively sentenced for aggravated mafia-style receiving of stolen goods, while Michele Sannino and Ciro Marigliano were wanted for various episodes of violence and organised crime.
The arrest of the three bosses represents a severe blow to the Formicola-Marigliano clan. The Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, expressed his satisfaction with the operation, underlining the "determination and high professionalism" of the Naples Flying Squad.
The arrest of these three fugitives is truly an important fact for justice. However, I wonder how they managed to hide so long in Spain, when the Italian police are always attentive to these situations.
