The 70th edition of the Premio Napoli celebrated the winners at the Teatro Mercadante, with the participation of the protagonists of the Italian literary scene.
The event, which takes place in the historic Palazzo Reale, evolves by introducing new categories dedicated to graphic novels, comics and musical lyrics, as well as consolidating the poetry section
Maurizio DeGiovanni, president of the foundation, announced the intention to bring the younger generations closer to reading, an objective that the event wants to pursue with force. The involvement of young people is considered fundamental, especially in a worrying social context, characterized by episodes of violence among minors.
“I have never seen a boy with a book arming himself,” De Giovanni said, underlining the importance of culture as an antidote to violence and ignorance.
The evening saw the awarding of prizes to Antonio Franchini with “Il fuoco che ti porta dentro” and Sergio Luzzatto with “Dolore e furore”, for the category 'Narrativa/saggistica'. In the section 'Poetry and musical texts', the prizes went to Tommaso Ottonieri for “Cinema di sortilegi” and Ida Travi with “I Tolki”. The new category 'Graphic novel and comics' saw the recognition of Deena Mohamed with “Shubbek Lubbek. Ogni tuo desiderio”.
