Ariano Irpino – The wild boar emergency continues to dominate Ariano Irpino, causing new complications and disruptions for the community.
After an incident that saw a woman fall to the ground while trying to protect her dog from an encounter with a boar, and with the lawn of the municipal villa reduced to unrecognisable conditions due to animal incursions, the local authorities are looking for definitive solutions.
A new approach to the issue is expected this morning by ASL, CRIUV, regional hunting office and Municipal Police, with the aim of resolving the situation in the best interest of all. Mayor Enrico Franza had discussions with the Police Chief of Avellino and the ASL veterinary service, ensuring that there was no omission on the part of the municipal administration.
The solution identified is the capture of the wild boar by telenarcosis, a painless and non-violent technique that allows the animal to be put to sleep at a distance. During the operation, the entire area of the municipal villa must be closed to the public for safety reasons, considering the possible reactions of the animal even under sedation.
Previous attempts to capture it, using a cage placed in the lower part of the villa, were unsuccessful. The wild boar managed to avoid the trap, also due to the lack of cooperation of the citizens, who on more than one occasion tampered with the cage and did not respect the ordinance to close the park.
The municipal administration is also evaluating a third solution to prevent wild animals from entering the villa: the construction of a low fence, which blends in with the greenery, starting from the end of the wall on Viale Tigli, on the guest sector side of the Silvio Renzulli stadium, and continuing along the slope to the main entrance.
The situation is complex and requires the collaboration of all citizens to be resolved in the most effective way possible. The primary objective is to guarantee the safety of people and animals, while preserving the ecosystem of the municipal villa.
