A surreal episode led to the arrest of Massimo Cefariello, a 37-year-old already known to the police, accused of burglary.
The man was stopped by the Carabinieri of the Ercolano Police Station after a series of incredible events. Cefariello had been noticed by the military while he was wandering around suspiciously in the city center.
At the sight of the uniforms, the man fled in a car that turned out to be stolen. Despite the attempted pursuit, the Carabinieri had lost track of him. The next day, however, Cefariello showed up at the police station in arcade-Ercolano to fulfill the obligation to sign, imposed by previous judicial events. What betrayed him, however, was the means of transport used to get to the barracks: a stolen scooter.
Gthanks to the collaboration between the carabinieri and the State Police, the man was immediately stopped. During the search, the keys to a house and a scooter were found, stolen shortly before from the home of the rightful owner. The arrest was validated and Cefariello was sentenced to three years in prison.
