Naples – “Bring a thousand euros to the Secondigliano prison and you'll get your car back. Come alone.” A brief but chilling message was received by a Neapolitan citizen, who until that moment had been unaware that his car had been stolen.

Realizing that he was the victim of extortion, the owner of the vehicle immediately turned to the Carabinieri of Capodimonte station. It was 15:16 PM when he filed the complaint. During the verbalization, a second phone call: the criminals reiterate the appointment for 30:XNUMX PM in front of the Secondigliano prison. A thousand euros to get the car back, without involving the police.

But by then, the military was already in action. In less than an hour they reconstructed the route of the stolen vehicle and identified a second car, used by the criminals as a relay.

Thanks to the license plate detected by the cameras, the Carabinieri prepare the intervention: a team in plain clothes takes up position near the prison, while another group remains hidden nearby, ready to intervene.

At the appointed time, the trap is sprung. Three men are spotted standing near the penitentiary with their eyes fixed on the road. One of them has in his pocket the cell phone with the SIM used for extortion calls. Shortly after, the stolen car is also found, parked nearby.

Those arrested are Vincenzo Calzona, 21, Christian Boncore, 20 and Giuseppe Russo, 32, accused of complicity in receiving stolen goods and attempted extortionThe three were transferred to prison and are now awaiting trial.
