The imposition of additional duties of 10% or 20% would reduce Italian exports to the US by approximately 11 billion.
The study described in a report by Confartigianato predicts that with the introduction of the duties envisaged by the Trump presidency, the reduction in exports of Italian products could reach up to -16,8% compared to the overall value of 66,4 billion, a figure that represents the level of exports to the United States.
The report states that Italy would be the European country most affected, as "the imposition of additional duties, in the hypotheses of 10% or 20%, would cause our exports to the USA to decrease by 4,3% or even 16,8%, respectively". In order to counteract this probable blow to the Italian economy, it will be necessary to focus on the high quality of Made in Italy, according to what was stated by the President of Confartigianato Marco Granelli.
