The Feltrinelli bookshop in Piazza dei Martiri in Naples will host the presentation of "Lo stronzo geniale – Guida semiseria ai Nino Sarratore" by Raffaella R. Ferré, published by Colonnese Editore, on Friday, January 10th at 6:00 pm.

The event is intended as a literary “trial” dedicated to the famous character from Elena Ferrante's My Brilliant Friend, bringing to the stage a stimulating discussion with various exceptional guests.

The event and the interventions

Gennaro Marco Duello, journalist of Fanpage.it and writer, will have the task of defending the controversial character, while Raffaella R. Ferré will deal with the accusation. The evening will be moderated by Titti Marrone, journalist of Il Mattino, who will act as an impartial judge. Alessandra Nardini will take care of the readings. Admission to the event will be free.

An analysis of the irreverent “genius”

Ferré’s book offers a shrewd analysis of the myth of genius, centered on the archetypal figure of the “genius” capable of dividing between fascination and irritation. Nino Sarratore, a central character in Ferrante’s saga, is portrayed as the embodiment of the seductive but flawed intelligent man, pushing readers to confront their own emotional weaknesses.

Resonance in everyday dynamics

“Lo stronzo geniale” delves into the relational dynamics between readers and fictional characters, exploring the impact of popular culture and narrative stories on personal choices. Ferré, through her ironic approach, highlights how characters like Sarratore leave an impression of emptiness, despite being irresistibly attractive. The author, who lives in Naples and is known for her work on the Ferrante saga, continues to explore the complexities of human and literary relationships through her works, offering the public new keys to interpretation and food for thought.

The event in Naples seems very interesting and engaging, but I don't know if I'll be able to attend. The theme of the book intrigues me, especially regarding the character of Nino Sarratore who is complex and fascinating.
