The Carabinieri of the Salerno Company have dealt a heavy blow to local drug trafficking, executing an arrest warrant against a local man, believed to be responsible for possession of large quantities of narcotics for the purpose of dealing.
The operation, which took place on the evening of January 25th in a condominium of the Carmine area, led to the seizure of 13 kg of hashish, 1,3 kg of cocaine, over 530.000 euros in cash, two clandestine pistols, 51 rounds of ammunition of various calibers and 56 firecrackers.
Attempted escape and large kidnapping
According to initial reconstructions, the man attempted to escape during a check of the Carabinieri in the condominium garages. His reaction aroused the suspicions of the military, who decided to investigate further. The search brought to light a veritable arsenal and a large quantity of drugs and cash.
The arrest warrant, issued by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Salerno, was validated by the GIP. Investigations are still ongoing to ascertain the origin of the drugs and money, as well as any accomplices of the man.

The Carabinieri operation was a very important thing to fight drug trafficking. However, I wonder if this arrest can really reduce crime in the area. There are still many problems to be solved.
