Festival Premio Corto Flegreo: in the 5th edition also a stellar section

Among the short films selected by the jury, some could become a videogame. The 5th edition of the Festival Premio “Corto Flegreo” has many new features, including a “Stellar” section.

Competition

Created by the lawyer Maria Grazia Siciliano, artistic director of the festival and president of Liberass aps, “Corto Flegreo” is a competition open to cinema lovers, directors, young people, professional and non-professional video makers, invited to produce a short film of a maximum duration of 15 minutes with a free subject, which has as its setting, at least in part, the territory of the Campi Flegrei and its archaeological sites, access to which to shoot scenes of the shorts is free of charge. The works can be submitted until May 30th by accessing the site www.cortoflegreo.it. Godfathers of the festival and presenters of the final evening, scheduled for Saturday 28 June at the Flavio Amphitheatre arena, Gigi and Ross.

The “Corto Flegreo” Festival Award was presented to the press by Gigi & Ross, Mariagrazia Siciliano, Antonio Marciano, Dirce Stocchetti (artistic direction of the final event at the Flavio Amphitheatre), by the director and writer Antonio Centomani, by the photographer Luciano Ferrara (for the award for the best shot), by the actor Stefano Moffa and by the artist Anna Calemme.

“The 5th edition of the “Corto Flegreo” Festival Award has begun with many new features, many new sections, many projects and, above all, many prizes – declares Maria Grazia Siciliano –. The Festival wants to enhance the Phlegraean area with young people, through young people and through the magic of the seventh art, it has created new sections, including the "Stellar" one that gives everyone the opportunity to compete and tell their stories through a breathtaking landscape that the nature of the Phlegraean Fields offers. Among the winning shorts, someone will have the opportunity, thanks to the company Jesus Interaction, which provides a new technology capable of transforming the short into a videogame, to make it a game and the discovery and application of this technology is very interesting and exciting".

"We are delighted to be a partner of the fifth edition of the "Corto Flegreo" festival, concretely supporting this initiative. The Campania Welfare Foundation will finance two training modules, each for 240 hours, for the winners of the "Stellare" section, dedicated to the problems and critical issues that the world of disability poses to us. – declares Antonio Marciano, president of the Foundation –. With this new section of “Corto Flegreo” a part of the metropolitan area of ​​Naples, the Phlegraean area, is enhanced, with care and attention for people with disabilities”.

Along with the “Stellare” section, dedicated to short films that have disability as their theme, in all its forms and meanings and is aimed primarily at associations and operators in the sector, there are the “Competitive” sections – the main section in which all the short films received and that respect the rules are welcomed, they will be able to compete for the final victory; “Schools” – reserved for all primary and secondary schools; “Beyond” – dedicated to short films made beyond the borders of the Campi Flegrei and that have respect for diversity and love for freedom as their theme.

The Festival enjoys the moral patronage of the Campania Region, the Metropolitan City of Naples and the Municipalities of the Phlegraean area (Pozzuoli, Bacoli, Quarto and Monte di Procida), the Municipality of Naples and the Regional Park Authority of the Phlegraean Fields. Partners of the Festival: Archaeological Park of the Phlegraean Fields, Conservatory of Music San Pietro a Majella, Fondazione Campania Welfare, Scuola Italiana Comix, Oasi WWF Astroni and COMICON, which, in the broad calendar of activities that will be scheduled at the Mostra d'Oltremare, will also include the screening of the short films that won the festival.

Awards

There are a total of 10 prizes up for grabs for this XNUMXth edition: Amphitheatrum Prize (first place), Mirabilis Prize (second place), Miseno Prize (third place), Macellum Prize (winner of the “Schools” section), Sibilla Prize (winner of the “Stellare” section), Social Like Prize. Special prizes: Best Director Prize, the winner will be offered the opportunity to participate as assistant director in the next film or documentary work directed by director Antonio Centomani; Critics’ Prize, awarded by film critic Valerio Caprara; Best Photography Prize, awarded by photographer Luciano Ferrara, Best Unreleased Soundtrack Prize, awarded by the San Pietro a Majella Conservatory, Audiovisual Napoli Hub Prize, awarded by Apogeo ETS.
