Taking advantage of the roar of New Year's Eve fireworks, a gang of thieves struck a warehouse of agricultural products in Pollena Trocchia. The suspicious noises, however, did not escape the owner of the company, who lives on the upper floor.
The man, suspicious of the movements in the warehouse, immediately contacted 112. The Carabinieri of the Cercola branch intervened promptly, surprising the criminals on the spot. At the sight of the police, three of the thieves managed to escape, but a fourth was stopped thanks also to the help of the owner.
A 35-year-old of Iraqi origin ended up in handcuffs, accused of complicity in aggravated theft. Part of the stolen goods was recovered, while the rest remains missing.
The suspect has been transferred to a holding cell, awaiting trial. In the meantime, investigations continue to identify and capture the fleeing accomplices.

This is very alarming news, but it makes me think that security needs to be tightened in these areas. Thieves shouldn't be able to strike so easily. Let's hope the police can stop them all.
