The National Agency for Artificial Intelligence (ENIA) officially announces the launch of the first International Day of Artificial Intelligence, which will be celebrated on July 4th of each year. The date chosen coincides with the beginning of the Dartmouth Conference of 1956, the historic event that marked the official birth of the discipline of Artificial Intelligence.
With this initiative – explains a note – Enia promotes a day dedicated to celebrating innovation, ethics and the impact of AI on society, raising awareness among institutions, companies, universities and citizens on the benefits and challenges that this technology brings with it.
A DAY TO REFLECT ON THE FUTURE OF AI
The International Day of Artificial Intelligence was born with the aim of:
– Promote awareness of the importance of AI in different sectors, from healthcare to industry, from education to sustainability.
– Promote the debate on the ethical and responsible use of AI, involving experts, governments and international organizations.
– Inspire innovation by supporting new ideas, startups and research projects in the field of artificial intelligence.
– Educate and engage the public through events, conferences and outreach initiatives on a global scale.
EVENTS AND INITIATIVES FOR AI INTERNATIONAL DAY
For the first edition of the International Day of Artificial Intelligence, ENIA will organize a series of events and round tables involving AI experts, institutions, businesses and citizens. Among the planned activities:
– International summit with the participation of industry leaders and institutional representatives;
– Webinars and workshops to delve into topics such as generative AI, sustainability and regulation;
– Hackathons and technology challenges, to incentivize innovative AI-based solutions;
– Awareness and dissemination campaigns aimed at schools, universities and citizens.
“Artificial intelligence technology is transforming our world at an unprecedented speed,” said Valeria Lazzaroli, president of Enia. “With AI International Day, we want to create a global moment of reflection and discussion, so that AI is developed and used responsibly, respecting human values and ethics.”
GLOBAL RECOGNITION IN SIGHT
Enia's goal is to obtain official recognition of the International Day of Artificial Intelligence by the United Nations or other international institutions in the future, consolidating this event as a fixed appointment in the global calendar of science and innovation.

It's interesting that Enia is organizing a day dedicated to artificial intelligence, but I wonder if everyone really understands the benefits and challenges that this technology brings. Maybe more education on the subject is needed for everyone.
