Salerno – Nancy Liliano, accused of road homicide for the death of two carabinieri on duty and an elderly man, victims of a tragic accident, will be tried immediately.
The Salerno prosecutor's office obtained from the investigating judge the referral to trial without aggravating circumstances, but with the accusation of not having been able to control the vehicle due to high speed.
The accident dates back to the night of April 6 of last year, along the road that connects Eboli to Campagna. According to the reconstruction of the investigators, the Range Rover driven by Liliano was traveling between 128 and 133 km/h, a speed considered incompatible with the conditions of the road.
According to the prosecution, it was precisely the high speed that prevented the woman from controlling the vehicle, causing it to crash first into the police car and then into the elderly man's car, causing the death of three people.
The preliminary investigations judge's decree ruled out driving while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs.

The accident and the victims
Among the victims of the tragic impact were the Carabinieri Francesco Pastore and Francesco Ferraro, on duty at the Campagna station, and Cosimo Filantropia, the elderly man involved in the collision. Also seriously injured was Marshal Paolo Volpe, who was driving the Carabinieri car that night hit by the Range Rover.
The investigators, coordinated by the chief prosecutor Giuseppe Borrelli and the deputy prosecutor Luigi Alberto Cannavale, accuse Liliano of negligence, incompetence and imprudence for having violated the highway code by exceeding the speed limit.
According to the prosecution, the car of theaccused, after the impact with the first car, would have accumulated a high amount of kinetic energy, rotating 180 degrees and ending up in the opposite lane, also fatally striking the elderly man.
The trial will open in February before a single judge. Eleven civil parties have been recognized, including the victims' families and Marshal Volpe. The defense of the accused is entrusted to the lawyer Antonio Boffa.
