This afternoon, at 15 pm, Palazzo Melzi in Santa Maria Capua Vetere will host an exceptional appointment with Nicola Gratteri, Public Prosecutor of Naples and symbolic figure in the fight against organised crime.
The meeting, which will be held in the Franciosi Hall of the Department of Law of the University of Campania "Luigi Vanvitelli”, represents a unique moment of comparison for and students and PhD students, within the framework of the courses dedicated to promoting the culture of legality.
At the centre of the debate is the book “The Great Deception”, co-written by Gratteri together with Antonio Nicaso, who offers an in-depth look at the distortions and false values inherent in mafia systems.
The event is part of the broader program of initiatives of the Department of Law, aimed at raising awareness among the younger generations on the issues of justice, human rights and social inequalities, involving institutions, students and citizens in a constructive dialogue for the territory.
Since 2022, the Department has launched a multi-year program aimed at increasing awareness among young people, strengthening the link between the University and the local community, in a social context marked by critical challenges.
The meeting with Nicola Gratteri It is also part of the seminar cycle of the PhD in “Internationalization of legal systems and fundamental rights” and of the Third Mission activities of the Department, underlining the University's commitment to building a culture of legality.
The Rector of the University “Luigi” will open the proceedings. Vanvitelli”, Prof. Giovanni Francesco Nicoletti, and the director of the Department of Law, Prof. Raffaele Picaro. The initiative promises to be an opportunity for reflection and dialogue, offering students a privileged perspective on the delicate issue of organized crime and the need for a shared commitment to combat its effects.
