Naples – A homemade explosive device exploded in front of the offices of the Grimaldi shipping company, in via Marchese Campodisola, in the heart of the historic center.
The attack, which occurred around 23 pm, caused a loud bang, fortunately without any injuries. The Carabinieri, the police and the firefighters intervened on the scene.
The investigations, entrusted to the Digos, are still ongoing. Among the hypotheses being examined: intimidation, an attempted extortion or an act of intimidation towards the shipping company. No lead is excluded, including that of terrorism.
The episode turns the spotlight back on organised crime in Naples and in particular on the city centre which has been affected for months by strong signs of clashes and tensions with the entrance on the scene of young talents ready to take over and oust the old clans and old bosses, many of whom are in prison.
