Naples – A homemade explosive device exploded in front of the offices of the Grimaldi shipping company, on Via Marchese Campodisola, in the heart of the historic center.
The attack, which occurred around 23 pm, caused a loud bang, fortunately without any injuries. The Carabinieri, the police and the firefighters intervened on the scene.
The investigations, entrusted to the Digos, are still ongoing. Among the hypotheses being examined: intimidation, an attempted extortion or an act of intimidation towards the shipping company. No lead is excluded, including that of terrorism.
The episode puts the spotlight back on organised crime in Naples and in particular on that in the city centre which has been experiencing strong signs of clashes and tensions for months with the arrival on the scene of young people ready to take over and oust the old clans and old bosses, many of whom are in prison.
