Giugliano. There is disbelief and shock in Giugliano over the death of Gino Creuso, 62, a farmer who was headbutted yesterday by a large, approximately 600-kilogram calf. The accident occurred shortly after 10:00 a.m. at Farm 9.1, an educational farm located on Via Domitiana, in the hamlet of Licola-Varcaturo.
Creuso was in the enclosure taking care of the animals, as he did every day, when he was suddenly attacked.
The rescue operations, alerted by the family members worried about his prolonged absence, proved useless. A medical car and an ambulance from 118 intervened on the spot, coming from the nearby “Varcaturo” station of the'Asl Naples 2 North. Despite the efforts of the paramedics, who attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation for over half an hour, the farmer died due to the deep injuries to his chest.
Creuso was well known in the area for his dedication to the countryside and animals. For decades he had managed a large plot of land transformed into a corner of uncontaminated nature, frequented by visitors attracted by the atmosphere of peace and relaxation. In recent years, the farm had also opened a picnic area, expanding its activities.

According to reconstructions, the man had left home early in the morning for his usual round of fences, during which he dispensed affection to the animals he raised with passion: goats, cows, horses and lambs. One of those animals, with which he had a daily relationship, was fatal. The discovery of the lifeless body occurred when the family, suspicious of his absence, went to the farm.
The officers of the Giugliano police station are conducting investigations to clarify the dynamics of the accident. At the moment, there are no doubts about the cause of death, attributable to the violence of the blow inflicted by the calf. It remains to be ascertained what triggered the sudden reaction of the animal, which Creuso had been caring for for some time.
As per the protocol, the calf will be subjected to checks by the Veterinary ASL to establish any behavioral anomalies. The slaughter of the animal is not excluded, if it is deemed necessary.

It's really sad that something like this happened to Gino Creuso. I can't believe that a calf can do so much harm, it's strange because they are pets and not aggressive. Let's hope that the investigations will clarify everything.
