The meetings of the “School of Solidarity Culture” in Scampia resume after the Christmas break. This series of events is dedicated to the presentation of books that promote a culture of solidarity.
Presentation of the book on the steel industry in Taranto
The appointment on January 14 at 18:45 pm in the church of Santa Maria della Speranza will see the participation of Gian Cesare Romagnoli, Senior Professor of Economic Policy at the University Roma Tre. The book being presented is “Odissea di uno fabbrica. Il Siderurgico a Taranto tra passato e futuro”, published by Franco Angeli and edited by Romagnoli himself. The publication includes essays by various experts, including politicians, environmentalists, trade unionists, economists, engineers and sociologists, who discuss the economic, social and environmental impact of the Taranto steel plant.
Analysis and perspectives
The volume analyzes the evolution of the industrial complex starting from the establishment of the IV Italian Siderurgical Center in 1959, paying attention to its effects fluctuating over time. The writings address the numerous investigations, articles and trials that have involved the plant, highlighting a constant interaction between scientific, cultural and judicial conflicts.
Important interventions
The book presentation will be led by Father Fausto Gianfreda SJ, Professor of Sacred Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University and the Pontifical Theological Faculty of Southern Italy. The event will be introduced by Father Eraldo Cacchione SJ, Rector of the Church “Santa Maria della Speranza”.

This article talks about an interesting and important initiative for the community, but I don't really understand what solidarity culture means. Maybe it would be useful to explain better, even if the book seems very important for Taranto.
