A relaxed and positive atmosphere characterised Ezio Simonelli's first press conference as the new president of Lega Serie A. “There was a very positive atmosphere today – declared Simonelli –. The reference is to the controversy raised by Napoli, which had presented an appeal to the Milan Tribunal to contest the legitimacy of Simonelli's appointment, which was later withdrawn. “The proclamation is an invention – explained the president –. It does not exist in the civil code and in the statute, it was something built on nothing. Napoli, realizing the procedural error, withdrew the appeal. President De Laurentiis called me to clarify that it was a misunderstanding. For me, it is a closed chapter”. Simonelli then wanted to clarify his position regarding the internal affairs of the FIGC: “I don’t deal with federal issues.”
