“In today’s Council of Ministers we are challenging the Campania regional law” that would authorize the governor’s third term. This was stated by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni when asked what the government’s position is on the limit to the third term of regional presidents, in the end-of-year press conference.
“I am available to talk about the need for a legislative initiative to harmonize the limit on the third term of regional presidents,” the prime minister continued, “but as of today, objectively, it does not seem to me that we can intervene with one yes and one no, because it would not be coherent for the institutions as a whole.”
The response of the governor of Campania Vincenzo De Luca was not long in coming, so much so that he announced that he will meet journalists tomorrow, at 11 am, in the “De Sanctis” room of Palazzo Santa Lucia, seat of the Region, in Naples.
The topics of the press conference have not been disclosed, although it is likely that the focus will be on the Government's decision - anticipated this morning by the Prime Minister Meloni– to challenge the Campania law that gives the green light to the third term for the governor. Announcement on which, for the moment, the Region has chosen not to intervene.
