The event, organized by the Fondazione della Comunità Salernitana and the Unione Cristiana Imprenditori Dirigenti della Sezione Diocesana Salerno, will be sponsored by the Province of Salerno and the Archdiocese of Salerno-Campagna-Acerno. The preface of the volume is edited by Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, president of the Italian bishops.

During the meeting, which will open with institutional greetings, Don Bruno Bignami will discuss the relationship between Christianity and politics. A dialogue will follow with Sauro Pellerucci, president of the association “Io sono una persona per bene”, Francesco Picarone, president of the Budget Commission of the Campania Region, and Maria Patrizia Stasi, general secretary of the Fondazione della Comunità Salernitana Ets. The moderation will be entrusted to Paolo Masini, president of RomaBPA.
Book Contents
The book is divided into two parts: the first explores how Christianity forms consciences and the second collects testimonies of historical and contemporary personalities who have intertwined their Christian spirituality with political commitment. Examples cited include Tina Anselmi, Maria Eletta Martini, Giuseppe Dossetti, Giorgio La Pira and David Sassoli. The volume emphasizes the evangelical image of leaven, symbolizing the discreet but influential presence of Christians in politics.
Author's Statements
Don Bignami, director of the National Office for Social Problems and Work of the CEI, emphasizes the style of the believing politician, oriented by God's gaze on reality. He highlights how the encyclicals "Laudato si'" and "Fratelli tutti" represent beacons of care for creation and fraternal peace in the current social and political context.
