The traveling festival of ancient music, now in its 23rd year, resumes after the Christmas break. "...where music meets its time...": an event offering free immersive experiences of music and art in historic locations, organized by the "Ave Gratia Plena" Cultural Association and the "Francesco Durante" Cultural Association.

Concert: Sacred Praises between Mannerism and Baroque in Florence and Naples

The eighth appointment of the series is scheduled for Saturday 25 January 2025, at 19.30:XNUMX pm, at the church of the Assunta (cathedral) of Santa Maria Capua Vetere (CE), in the Sorici chapel. The concert will be performed by the Cappella Vocale e Strumentale “I Musici di Corte” and admission is free. Further details on the musical program are available here.

The sound journey will take the listener through the Florentine and Neapolitan atmospheres between 1570 and 1640. The performances on the programme include works of Renaissance polyphony (de Victoria, Rodio) and popular-inspired lauds (Razzi and the oratorio Filippino in Naples), up to the virtuosity of harmonic experimentation of the early 600th century (Nenna), and concertato inspired by Monteverdi (Vitali, Sabino, Ansalone).

The double perspective will allow us to appreciate the openness of sacred music in Naples towards modernity compared to Florence. The event, set in the suggestive chapel of Santa Maria dei Sorici, represents an example of architecture and decorative arts from 1630. It is organized in collaboration with the parish of Santa Maria Maggiore and San Simmaco in Santa Maria Capua Vetere. The complete program of the event is available here
