Bad weather continues to create problems for the transport system in Southern Italy: due to the damage caused by the meteorological events that are affecting the Tyrrhenian Sea of Cosenza, rail traffic has been suspended since tonight on several sections of the Salerno-Reggio Calabria line.
The interruptions concern the segments between Diamond and Cape Bonifati, Fuscaldo and Paola, is between Paola and Saint Lucido. The FS Group has announced that on some sections of the line, strong winds have carried metal objects outside the railway, preventing the passage of trains. Furthermore, heavy rains have worsened the situation, making regular circulation impossible.
Rete Ferroviaria Italiana technicians are working to restore the line, but operations are being hampered by the violent wave of bad weather. To further complicate the situation, the interruption of road traffic in some areas has made it impossible to activate replacement bus services.
