Overnight, in Marano di Napoli, Carabinieri officers from the local unit carried out a large-scale operation, conducting several searches and checking 15 vehicles.
The operation involved two separate incidents of fuel theft, leading to the arrest and reporting of four people.
Arrest at the fuel station
Among the people involved is Antonio Barbato, a 43-year-old already known to the police. Barbato was caught while trying to steal gasoline from the gas station located on Corso Europa 11, with an estimated value of about 2.800 euros. The surprise was particular because the arrest occurred on his birthday.
During the operations, the Carabinieri identified further suspicious movements in a service area in Mugnano di Napoli, in via Nenni. Here, four people, aged between 18 and 51, were caught while trying to steal diesel.
The four were reported and two vans and six cans containing a total of 2.500 liters of fuel were seized. The operation highlighted the importance of law enforcement vigilance in preventing and combating fuel thefts in the area.
