Veronica Sposito, a 37-year-old special education teacher, was arrested yesterday by the Carabinieri for sexually abusing seven of her students at the Salvati middle school in the Scanzano district of Castellammare di Stabia and also had pornographic material at home.
The Carabinieri discovered it, confirming the serious accusations made against the woman, who, on the orders of the Torre Annunziata Prosecutor's Office, also carried out a search of her home in Meta di Sorrento, upon notification of the arrest ordered by the investigating judge Luisa Crasta.
The interrogation and the evidence
Tomorrow, Thursday, January 16, the woman will be questioned by the judge for preliminary investigations in the presence of her lawyer. The investigations, coordinated by the Torre Annunziata Prosecutor's Office, have brought to light a shocking reality: the abuses allegedly took place inside the school, in a classroom nicknamed "the little room," where the teacher allegedly lured the boys with deception, showing them pornographic material and performing sexual acts.
The attack and the complaint
Last November, the teacher had been attacked by a group of parents who suspected something strange. The episode had caused a sensation, but at the time no one could have imagined the horror that was hidden behind those school walls.
Following the attack, contact between the teacher and the boys moved to an Instagram chat, also called “La Saletta”, where the abuse continued.
Threats, blackmail and fear
The students involved were allegedly subjected to constant threats and blackmail: the teacher threatened to fail them or harm them if they revealed what was happening. Some of the terrified students even thought about ending their lives.
The complaint that revealed hell
The turning point came when two students were suspended after being caught vaping in the bathroom. One of them returned to class and told another teacher about the abuse he had suffered. The teacher didn't believe her at first, but her report opened a breach, prompting other students to speak out and tell their own terrible experiences.
The precautionary custody order
In the custody order, the judge emphasized how the teacher, instead of protecting her students, exposed them to inappropriate sexual content and subjected them to continuous humiliation and threats.
