The State Police reported a 29-year-old Ivorian man for receiving stolen goods in the historic center, caught with over €26 in cash and merchandise of dubious origin.
The operation took place on Friday evening when officers from the Vicaria-Mercato Police Station, during a routine check, spotted a man trying to hide among the parked cars on Via Marvasi.
The officers promptly stopped and searched the man, finding in his possession two cell phones, three SIM cards, two prepaid cards and 2.320 euros in cash, the provenance of which he was unable to explain.
Believing that there could be further elements useful for the investigations, the Police extended the search to the suspect's home. Here, they found two more cell phones, 12 pairs of glasses, 18 Watches of well-known brands, some gold and silver jewellery, 8 health cards and approximately 24.500 euros in cash.
Even in this case, the man was unable to provide explanations about the origin of the money and objects. The intervention, supported by the Office of General Prevention and Public Aid, led to the young man being reported. Investigations are continuing to ascertain the origin of the seized goods.

It's strange that a person could have so much cash and valuables without an explanation, but maybe there are reasons we don't know. The police did well to check.
