Juventus coach Thiago Motta analysed the 2-1 defeat against Napoli at the Maradona, acknowledging the value of the opponent and admitting the limitations shown by his team in the second half.
Speaking to DAZN, the Juventus coach expressed both disappointment over the result and awareness of the difficulties faced. "We showed great character, especially in the first half, which isn't easy on a pitch like this ," Motta said, emphasizing his team's initial solidity.
However, the coach didn't hide his disappointment: "I'm disappointed about the defeat, because we played a good first half, causing problems for a team that is top of the table for good reason." Motta highlighted Napoli's strength and the effectiveness of Antonio Conte's management: "Napoli is a strong team, led by a very good coach. With only one match a week, they have the advantage of preparing for each game as well as possible, and that was evident today."
The decline in form in the second half was a key factor in the outcome of the match: "We weren't able to replicate what we saw in the first half in the second half. This prevented us from taking home the result. In many games, we've been able to react to situations of disadvantage, but today we didn't succeed."
Motta then recalled Juventus 's historic struggles at the Maradona: "We haven't won on this pitch since 2019, and this shows how difficult an away game it is for us." Finally, the coach touched on the fatigue accumulated in recent weeks: "We're coming off a series of very intense matches, like the demanding one in Bruges. However, today we also lacked technical precision and incisiveness in duels, aspects we need to work on."
