The History of Palazzo Serra di Cassano
Palazzo Serra di Cassano, a historic residence purchased by the Serra di Cassano family in the 17th century, today houses the Italian Institute for Philosophical Studies. The building stands out for its famous staircase designed by Ferdinando Sanfelice and for the frescoes by Giuseppe and Gioacchino Magri. After being the scene of dramatic historical events, including the arrest of the young duke Gennaro Serra di Cassano, the palace became a symbol of the revolutions and political changes of the time.
The Recollection of Revolutionary Thought
Written by Febo Quercia, the theatrical scenes will feature Mario Di Fonzo, Mariachiara Falcone, Pietro Juliano and Alessio Sica, and will guide visitors through the events of the “Ephemeral Revolution.” Cirillo’s pleas and appeals, ignored by the authorities, continue to spark debate among historians, including Benedetto Croce, who has helped reexamine this historical figure. Those interested can purchase tickets online, with prices varying depending on age, and are encouraged to book in advance. The event promises to offer a unique immersion into the events of a tumultuous period in Neapolitan history, through a performance that combines history and theatrical art.
