A tragedy struck the community of Scala, on the Amalfi Coast, yesterday morning, with the sudden death of a baby girl of almost six months: the little girl, living with her parents, felt ill while she was at home with some relatives.
Despite the immediate intervention of the 118 staff, who were alerted and quickly arrived at the little girl's home, and attempted to revive her, every attempt was in vain.
The Carabinieri intervened on site to carry out the necessary investigations. The Salerno Prosecutor's Office ordered anautopsy to determine the cause of death.
The mayor of Scala, Ivana Bottone, expressed her grief through a post on social media: “Today our community has been shaken by a deep and lacerating pain.” She described the situation as “heartbreaking news, for which there are no words, but only silence and meditation.”

Bottone then underlined the emotional impact that the loss of such a young life has on the community, leaving an “unfillable void and an incurable wound”. As a sign of respect and closeness to the child’s family, the mayor announced that “for the day of the funeral, a day of mourning will be declared as a sign of closeness and deep sorrow”.
